Volunteer Management: Tan Tock Seng Hospital - Integrated Care Hub
In Trimester 2, our Year 2 Occupational Therapy students had the meaningful opportunity to volunteer at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Integrated Care Hub (TTSH ICH) across various Wednesdays and Thursdays.
By participating in adaptive sports and therapeutic horticulture sessions with clients, students were able to translate classroom knowledge into real-world practice — applying OT principles in supportive and engaging environments.
We are deeply grateful to TTSH ICH and the clients we worked with for welcoming us and providing such valuable hands-on learning experiences. These sessions offered not only professional growth, but also memorable moments of connection and care.
Volunteer Management: Special Olympics
From 30 May to 2 June, our student volunteers had the incredible opportunity to support the Special Olympics Singapore (SOSG) National Games 2025, held at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
Organised by SOSG, this large-scale event brought together over 700 athletes with intellectual disabilities to compete in a variety of sporting events — all within an Olympic-village style atmosphere that celebrated inclusion, resilience, and community spirit.
Our volunteers played a key role in assisting with event logistics, athlete engagement, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants. It was a meaningful chance to witness firsthand the power of sport in empowering lives and building friendships beyond boundaries.
A huge thank you to Special Olympics Singapore for the opportunity, and to all our volunteers for your enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment. This was truly a memorable experience we’ll continue to carry with us.
Christmas @ Bishan Home (2024)
SAOTSC organized two festive Christmas celebration sessions at Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled, featuring engaging games and a seated dance to spread the holiday spirit!
The games included Reindeer Racing, Team Cup Stacking, Paper Cup Jenga, and a sensory Advent challenge of finding numbers. The event concluded with a lively seated dance, bringing joy and festive cheer to all participants.
Engagement Session with Clients @ IMH
For CO's latest event, our student volunteers had the opportunity to visit IMH's Sunrise Wing and the OcTAVE Outpatient Rehabilitation Centre to interact with the adolescents and seniors at IMH. Together, we celebrated our national holiday with Singapore-themed carnival games like 'Bingo - Hawker Food edition' and craft activities. Both the clients and our volunteers thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as evident from the smiles and laughter during the event itself.
Renci AMK SCC Volunteer Outreach (2023)
This year, we celebrated Hari Raya at Ren Ci’s Senior Care Centre with festive Arts & Craft projects. With the help of the student volunteers and therapy assistants, the elderly enjoyed painting and making their loved ones ribbon ketupats and Hari Raya greeting cards. This was the first event after COVID restrictions eased, so many student volunteers got to facilitate group sessions in person with real clients for the first time.
Engagement Session with Students @ Rainbow Centre (2023)
Our student volunteers and the students from Rainbow Centre's Out-Of-School-Hours (OOSH) program explored making sandwich art together and worked as a team to navigate the school compound looking for ‘treasures' during the treasure hunt. These sessions served as good socialization opportunities for the students at RC and were an eye-opening and humbling experience for our student volunteers.

Bishan Home 2022
Bishan Home is an annual Community Outreach event organised by the Community Outreach Committee of SAOTSC.
And it's back after 2 years ! Similar to previous runs of the event SAOTSC's Community Outreach team, together with a group of volunteers spread the festive spirit through a Mini-Christmas Carnival. They engaged with the residents through various activities such as carnival games and caroling.
Ren Ci Seated Dance (Hari Raya Edition) 2022
In collaboration with Ren Ci and 3 centres, SAOTSC's Community Outreach team planned out a dance session for the eldery.
Since it was nearing Hari Raya, the team and some volunteers taught the elderly moves to a traditional malay song.
MINDS 2022
In collaboration with MINDS, SAOTSC's Community Outreach team planned out a few different Art & Craft sessions for the clients at MINDS Enous. The sessions the clients were engaged with were "Making a Sensory Bottle", "Making a Kaleidoscope" and "Making Air-Dried Clay Crafts".
Bishan Home 2019
Bishan Home is an annual Community Outreach event organised by the Community Outreach Committee of SAOTSC.
Each year, OT students will be given the opportunity to give back to the community and volunteer at Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled. Moreover, since the event is usually held in December, students can spread the festive spirit and engage the residents through various activities such as baking, games and caroling.
